Two days event on Agroecology and Regenerative Farming at Open Farm Agora

On the occasion of “Agroecology Month 2022“*,  openfarm network, Regenerative Farming Greece &  Agroecology Greece invite you to explore paths for Greece to redesign our agro-food systems, for sustainability and regeneration, for healthy food, healthy farmers and healthy farms. Exploring the connections between Agroecology and Regenerative & Organic Ferming.

An open dialogue across farmers, movements, “consumers” and sectors.
We believe it is crucial to work together in order to have a real systemic impact in our world and create place and people based solutions.

Event Program

Friday 11/11 

• 16.00 pm – Initiatives presentation : : Open Farm , Agroecology Greece, Regenerative Farming Grece
  Open dialogue with farmers, agronomists, institutions and initiatives.
• 18.00 pm – Meet the farmers who produce with agroecological practices (Regenerative and Organic, Biodynamic Agriculture and Natural Farming).
  •  Dimitris Georgas(Georga’s Family), Biodynamic Viticulture – Tasting of organic wines.
  • Haris Vassiliou, Organic and Regenerative arboriculture (olives, pomegranates, herbs)
  • Alexandros Karatzas & Natassa Antari(Ecogaia Farm), Agroecological polyculture (legumes, vegetables, tree crops)
• 19.00 pm – Organic & Biodynamic wine tasting & food from the open farm producers… “to know us better”!

Saturday 12/11

• 11.00 am – Presentation of Agricultural and Regenerative practices applied to rural and urban farms (Urban Agroecology, Regenerative, Organic, Food Forests, Permaculture).
  • Marios Desyllas, agronomist (A.U.A),consultant – author: What is ‘beautiful & different’ about Biodynamic – and its importance for the future of life on the planet (an introduction).
  • Spyros Tsagaratos, Organic Farmer, Presentation of the EVZIN Organic Farm
  • Sheila Darmos, Co-founder and Director of The Southern Lights: Basic principles of a “food forest”
  • Panos Papadopoulos, Agronomist MSc (A.U.A), member of Agroecology Greece : Urban Agroecology

About the event organizers:

•  Agroecology Greece : Consists a network and a platform aiming to promote Agroecology as a science, practice and movement, in Greek. Its purpose is to network agricultural scientists/trainers, in order to exchange information, knowledge & research that will familiarize the principles and framework of agroecology in Greece and promote the transition of food production systems towards a truly sustainable form, integrating food sovereignty and security principles.
• Regenerative Farming Greece : The aim of this program is to enable and support the transition of farming in Greece into a regenerative one, by sharing the knowledge about agroforestry, its possibilities for restoring soil, plant and animal health, thus regenerating our ecosystems and building resilience facing climate change.
• Open Farm: is an institution & platform for visitable farms and agricultural enterprises who besides producing exceptional quality agricultural products, they also provide hospitality services,  leisure & educational experiences. 

*The #monthofagroecology aims to give visibility to initiatives and projects that intend to foster the #agroecological transition throughout Europe and worldwide.  During the second edition of the Month of Agroecology 2022, which will be held from the 17th of October to the 18th of November, Agroecology Europe will draw on collective solutions and create pathways of reflection to instigate a change in our dietary patterns and allow a space for them to be the driving force we need for the transition. Agroecology is indeed the way to healthier, more sustainable and fairer food systems!
